The Altar

Standing bare-foot
light dress flickering
in cool wind.
She waits.

Unaware of goosebumps
tight arms clutched
into her chest.
She waits.

Brown hair dancing
unable to rest,
waves waltz below.
She waits.

The pound of the heart,
that's bound by her body
swallowing air like a sword.
She waits.
